Late? No problem!

I love receiving belated birthday presents! When you get it on the day of, it's expected. But when it arrives a week or two later,  it's totally unexpected! :) I received some more birthday presents this week, much to my surprise. The first one was from my brother in The Netherlands. I received the huge red parcel at work and I unwrapped it as soon as I laid my hands on it. You're the best, brothaaaa! :)
(Special edition Longchamp - this is the closest I would ever get to Paris! hahaha..)

The next package was from Sybil, a fellow Capricorn and one of the sweetest girls I've met in the blogsphere :) Her package came in a small bubble envelope, but it contained super cool stuff. Thanks so much, love!
(A 'love' letter!!!! and I always wanted to own something from Le Sport Sac. Thanks for making my dream come true!)
(How did she know my favorite color is green??? capricorns instinct ;) hehe..)

See? Belated birthday present is GOOD! GREAT! AWESOME! :D :D :D

But I won't cry for yesterday

(Forever21 jacket & skirt / ZARA blazer (underneath) / H&M fur collar & tights /Tommy Hilfiger boots / leather gloves)

Not a good day at work :( I made some stupid mistakes that I should have been able to avoid. My boss said it's ok but I still took it pretty hard. I have always been my worst critic. One mistake is enough to bring my mood down for the day. Sometimes, the guilt continues throughout the night and causes bad dreams. Instead of waking up with a new spirit, I often feel worse. I hope that won't be the case for tonight. Fingers crossed :)

By the way, I've started watching Boys Before/Over(??) Flowers (a Korean drama) last night. Such a guilty pleasure and I'm not ashamed to admit it! Hahahaha.... :D

It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time!!

(H&M jacket & pants / F21 top & belt / Aldo shoes)

I'm currently addicted to some random jingle called, PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME, that I first heard from one of Family Guy's episodes. Those who are as obsessed with the show as I am should know what I'm talking about. Those who are clueless, here it is:

Isn't it funny??? Or do I just have a very lame sense of humor? Hahahaha... :D

The outfit: I got this sequined top for $7. It definitely satisfied my craving for sparkly things (since I didn't want to spend much more on sequined blazers or leggings). Of course, a low price tag usually comes with a consequence. As I was brushing my hair, my comb got stuck on the sequins and when I yanked it out, the sequins fell all over the floor. Very...disappointing...

Anyways, dinner's ready! Bye loves! :)

Being Julia

My birthday celebration was great! I had a mini get-together with some friends at my place and we indulged in lots of food, bubbly champagne, and yummy birthday cake for dessert. I made two dishes to feed the hungry crowd and (according to them) they were a huge success. I attempted Julia Child's infamous beef bourguignon and bruschetta, which we managed to devour in less than half an hour. Ahhh... I love cooking for people :)

The making of the beef bourguignon actually took place the night before. I needed to let it sit in the slow cooker for at least 4 hours, so there's no way I could do it on the day of, RIGHT AFTER WORK. The bruschetta was so easy to make and super yummy. I mixed grape tomatoes, chopped basil and parsley, spicy havarti cheese with EVOO, salt and black pepper. It was, dare I say,... orgasmic! Hahaha :D

Here are some snapshots I took throughout the night:

Thank you all for the birthday wishes :)

ps: I received some blog awards from fellow bloggers. THANKS SO MUCH, YOU GUYS!!! :) I apologize I haven't gotten around to do it, but I WILL in my next post :) *pinky promise*

Selamat Ulang Tahun!

(ZARA blazer / Forever 21 tank & necklace / UO skirt / H&M tights / Aldo pumps / Aritzia belt)

I look up to Olivia Palermo when it comes to style. Her outfits are always spot on and well put together. Most importantly, you would never catch her wearing shredded tops, ripped jeans, or doc martens (seriously, this trend is overdone!). She's definitely my kinda girl! When I stumbled upon this photo of her, I immediately pictured my entire closet in my head and picked out the items I could put together to look half as good as her. Now all I need is her gorgeous locks (or her hair stylist) to complete my look ;)

Anyway, today is also my birthday. Now, I'm only a year away from the quarter-of-a-century mark! When I was 18, I couldn't wait to turn 21. Now that I'm 24, I wish I could go back to being 21. Why can't I be forever 21? This obsession of wanting to stay young might also be the reason why I keep shopping at Forever21 :p

Last but not least, THANKS everyone for sharing their friendship stories as a response to my previous post :) :)

I will leave you guys with the shoe of my dream. I first saw it on WhoWhatWear and I've been searching for it day and night but it's sold out everywhere. Or the store doesn't ship to Canada!!!!!! Or they don't have it in my size!!!!!!! GAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't she a piece of art? (who cares if it looks like YSL? it costs 1/4 of the price!) My search continues...

'Til we meet again

(Forever 21 utility jacket / AA raglan pullover / H&M skirt / EBAY tights / UO boots)

Some friends and I were at the airport yesterday to drop off a friend who's leaving the country for good. This is not uncommon to me. For the past 8 years, I've acquired quite a number of friends and lost probably half of them. Many decided that their future was no longer in Canada, so they went abroad to look for better opportunities and pursue their dreams. Of course as a friend, I supported every decision that they made. But on the other hand, it's never easy to lose someone that you thought would always be a part of your life. My best friend left Canada 4 years ago. It was a very heart breaking experience for me. I knew it was the right thing for her to do and I supported her 100%. But I couldn't help but crying over her departure until I finally realized that it was not the end of our friendship (and that I couldn't cry anymore because my eyes were so swollen like I just got stung by a bee! hahaha...). We have managed to stay in touch since then. Of course it's not as often (or easy) as it used to be, but given the circumstances that we're in, we manage to keep each other up to date with what's happening with the other party. I know that we're always be best friends regardless of the distance (and the stupid time difference!!) between us.

You can have all the money in the world to spend on designer items and luxurious lifestyle, but you can never buy a true friendship :)

ps: I was so inspired by Aimee's (Song of Style) utility jacket that I kept telling myself "I need to have one!" I found a perfect one at Forever 21 and it was 30% off. Did I hear the little birds chirping "cheap..cheap..cheap.."? Oh yes, I did!!! :D

Grey Loose

(ZARA sweater / Forever 21 jeans / ALDO pumps / Necklace from mom)

I never talk about my job, so now I'm going to (just a bit).  I graduated 2 years ago with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and I was very lucky (and blessed) that I was able to get a job offer right after I finished my last exam (which was a killer Finance exam, btw) I've been working with the same company ever since. It's probably one of the best group of people I've worked with since I started working 5 years ago. Aside from the great coworkers, my company also has a very lenient and casual dress code. Gotta love a company that has Casual Mondays to Fridays, right? ;)

So here's an outfit I wore to work yesterday. I've been obsessed with anything grey (or gray? I could never figure this one out) lately. I guess it's because gre/ay is not as harsh as black and not as bright as white. I'm an "in-between" kinda girl:) Anyway... the sweater was on sale at Zara and it was 2 sizes bigger than from what I normally wear. In my book, that's a definition of "perfect". The jeans were advertised as ankle jeans, but since my legs are quite short, the hem hits perfectly below my ankles and I don't need to cuff them in like I usually do with my other pairs.

And the necklace is currently my favorite accessory piece. My mom got it for me from a local boutique in Barcelona. When she handed it to me, I gave her a weird look, like... "Seriously? Plastic chains with a star and a disco ball?!?" But after I incorporated it in a couple of ouftits, I was SOLD! I would probably pass this down to my daughter and hope that in 20 years, it'd still be a relevant fashion piece :p

It's weekend, you guys! Psyched? :D

(F21 vest & beanie / UO blazer / H&M dress / HUE tights / Aldo boots)

Complaining about the East Coast's winter is never ending. Fortunately, like Animated Confessions in Winnipeg (Canada), Toronto will also be experiencing positive temperatures over the weekend! YAY!! 2 degrees celcius doesn't sound so bad, right? I will celebrate it by wearing tights, skirts and skip the winter boots for a pair of pumps (or maybe ankle boots, just in case).

I layered a couple of fur pieces in this outfit in hopes to keep myself warm. Mission failed... miserably. I guess there's a reason why they are called FAUX fur, hahaha.. :D

I was making dinner when I wrote this entry. You might already know how much I LOVE korean instant noodles and last night's dinner was no other than... SPICY KIMCHI INSTANT NOODLES. Follow these easy steps to achieve the ultimate instant noodles experience:

1. Boil some wontons (NOT dumplings!!) then put in the instant noodles and dried condiments. Once half-cooked, put in some veggies. I like to use water cress because they're crunchy.

2. Pour and stir in the spicy powder. Leave it on the stove for a couple more minutes.

3. Take it off from the stove, set aside. Sprinkle some fried shallots (sold at any Asian supermarkets) and VOILA! Ready to be devoured (nom nom nom....)

Can I have 'em by the 19th?

I'm approaching another milestone in my life, which is my 24th birthday. To those who carded me at the liquor stores, I would like to say thanks for making me feel like a juvenile :) When I'm asked about what I want for present, I always say gift cards (*hint hint*). You can never go wrong or be disappointed with what you choose to buy for yourself. Scr*w those who say gift cards are not thoughtful and personal!:p Anyway, if I had to come up with a wish list, here are some of the things I have in mind:

1. Infiniti by Con-Air Multi-functional Styling Iron (I was SOLD when I saw the commercial on TV!) *Update: Got it! Thanks J!*

2. Fur winter hat (I regret not buying one when H&M Men had dozens of them!sigh..)

3. Wii Fit PLUS (to back up one of my new year's resolutions, hahaha...) *Update: bye bye Wii! I no longer want you, ha!*

4. Manager's chair (because my current one squeaks like a mouse caught on a trap!)

That's it! Short list, right? Of course, any gift cards from Urban Outfitters, H&M, Forever 21, or ZARA would also be greatly appreciated! Hahahaha... (and sometimes preferable...) ;)
